SAN JOSE, Calif., May 20, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- DSP Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:DSPG), a leading global provider of wireless chipset solutions for converged communications at home, announced today the appointment of Ofer Elyakim to the Company's Board of Directors, effective immediately. Mr. Elyakim has served as Chief Executive Officer of DSP Group since July 2009.

Prior to his appointment as CEO, Mr. Elyakim served as Senior Vice President and SEA President, with responsibility for managing DSP Group's business activities in South-East Asia. During his tenure in this role, Ofer spearheaded DSP Group's entrance into Mainland China by leading a focused effort to expand its customer base with tier 1 OEMs and Operators including Huawei, China Telecom and China Mobile. He joined DSP Group in January 2006 as Director of Investor Relations and Business Development, and served as Vice President of Business Development from 2007-2009.
Previously, Mr. Elyakim worked as a research analyst covering media and broadcasting companies at CIBC World Markets in New York, and held several management positions at Radvision, Tundo Communications and Kost Forer Gabbay & Kasierer, a member of Ernst & Young Global.
Mr. Elyakim received his BA in Computer Science and Accounting from Tel Aviv University and, his MBA with honors from Columbia Business School.
