Georgia President to Ring the NASDAQ Stock Market Closing Bell

What:

Mikheil Saakashvili, President of Georgia, will visit the NASDAQ MarketSite in New York City's Times Square during the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

In honor of the occasion, President Saakashvili will ring the NASDAQ Closing Bell. He will be joined by Georgia's Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Batu Kutelia, members of the Georgian Government and other dignitaries.

President Saakashvili was a leader of Georgia's 2003 Rose Revolution, and he has been instrumental in moving Georgia closer to the West and implementing democratic, financial and political reforms. Today, Georgia is #11 in the World Bank's annual survey of the world's most commerce friendly countries, up from 112th place in 2005, and The Heritage Foundation ranks Georgia #26 in their economic freedom ranking, up from #99 five years ago.

During his visit to the NASDAQ, President Saakashvili will discuss the important role freedom, transparent government and anti-corruption campaigns played in Georgia's transformation.
